(Vocational Education and Training)
The Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector prepares students for employment or further education and training. This sector consists of public institutes of Technical and Further Education (TAFE), and private registered colleges specialising in one or more areas of study related to future work. VET courses help students develop personal and professional skills that are closely linked with industries.
Students can choose from different specialized courses such as Information Technology, Management, Marketing, Travel and Tourism, Hairdressing, Hospitality etc. Some colleges also offer ELICOS courses to help students meet the English language entry requirement for the VET courses.
Students who have a relevant qualification from another country or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) within Australia will have their qualification recognised and can apply for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) and finish a course in shorter time.
